This game was really well made. I love the suspenseful vibe while playing and the puzzles were a little hard (the knock puzzle and the statue puzzle were the hardest) but all of that made it so much better. 100% recommend for spooky season!
This game is really cool, I can't explain it but I love the 2000s looking desktop and programs. The answers are also really clever, with how they utilize the desktop itself. The story is :'(( .
This was so good oml! Had me hurting for Liz at the end, angry at Orion for tricking her through this. If her experience was anything like ours, after even visiting the player world, she couldnt back up if she wanted to, she literally had no choice but to complete the ritual. This was great. Only thing that I felt so insanely frustrated at and had to search for an answer to was the statue puzzle, even after seeing the answer, I couldnt figure out why it made sense. Aside from that it was super well done, thank you for creating this for us to enjoy! I truly love this type of game, to search through and figure out what others left behind.
:( sorry to hear that! I will add a way to delete / restart saves if there are any errors. You can try to use chrome in incognito mode and see if that helps.
Me and my best friend used to play these kinds of games alot. Thinking about how empty they must be now, it breaks my heart. Honestly, the only gripe I have with this game is I wish it were longer, that we dove deeper into this feeling, let it linger awhile.
I wish I could be half as good as you are at making games.
I don't often write reviews about games, but I felt like sharing my thoughts on this one. I won't give any details that would take away from the experience of a first-time playthrough. This is coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't like puzzle games because he lacks the willpower and smarts to beat them, and that's gonna be most of what I talk about.
Quite often, whenever I see people talk about puzzle games, they talk about that "Aha!" moment. Its that moment that comes after spending a good while trying to figure out a puzzle, when suddenly you have an epiphany and realize how to solve it. It's a moment of realization in which you feel really cool, excited and smart. It's not something I really get whenever I play puzzle games. Most often, they're either too easy or too obtuse and frustrating for me. last seen online was neither. The puzzles felt really rewarding to solve.
The puzzles in the first half of the game are simple and direct, but they still did some things that I thought were clever and fun. The game gives you some very heavy-handed hints throughout the whole thing, and it's especially noticeable in this first half. I could see them being a bit much for some, but they worked quite well for me. I also quite like how the puzzles in the first half adapt to and play around with the retro computer aesthetic. They do some clever things using that format, which the puzzles in the latter half aren't able to, because at that point in the game, you're sort of playing a puzzle-game-within-a-puzzle-game. Those are closer to what you might expect of a traditional puzzle game, I think. The puzzles in the latter half of the game felt more challenging, though they're still quite simple in retrospect, which makes sense for an experience like this one, which I don't think is supposed to be very long. I think the puzzle with the statues is the best one in the game, and also the most challenging. It just struck the right balance for me.
I don't know much about puzzle design, but I suspect a lot of it has to do with how these problems are presented to the player. That might be why this game's puzzles worked for me when other games' didn't. Or maybe I've just become smarter ever since I gave up on the puzzle game genre, which was a while ago. I also quite appreciate how, as the itch.io description says, "Objects or items used for one puzzle will not be reused for another puzzle." I'm not saying interconnected puzzles can't be done well, but I think this is a choice that works well.
The puzzles and story mesh together elegantly as well. I was quite engaged by the story, yet I never felt like I had to get through the puzzles to get to the story. Maybe it's just that the puzzles were fun, and so I didn't mind doing them.
TL;DR If I had to briefly sum up my thoughts on this game's puzzles, I'd say this: last seen online does clever, interesting things while having puzzles that are simple enough not to be frustrating grind, but not so easy they make the experience a slog.

Well exceeded my expectations for a puzzle horror game. Well done!
A really great game, exploring someone’s old computer is quite interesting.Remember to clear your data before selling your computer.
