OH MY GOD THE ENDING OF THIS GAME. This whole game feels nostalgic and it's very relatable. I liked the theme of escapism, where you want to escape from reality so much that you would do anything.
I've tried many different combinations of inputting the code. With the hints from the tapestries with the words 'The Order' on them and watching the glowing gems, the sequence appears to be:
Goat (5) -> Lion (8) -> Eagle (3) -> Ox (4)
And the need to select the Ox multiple times (owing to the number of gems the Eagle is holding).
HOWEVER: These clues of order is an (unintentional) red herring.
I even considered how the L in Roman numbers meant 50; and how it might reflect in the puzzle in some way. But no, that was also a red herring.
The solution? Knowing the start and end animals and simply swap the order you visit the others.The developer seriously needs to correct the way in which they shine the gems!
Why is this annoying? Because this is a fabulous game let down by an unfortunate quirk.
I think the statue puzzle is my weakest puzzle design, and I have been playing around with how to rework it.
The "L" you are referring to is actually an "I" which is roman numeral for 1. The two clues "I." and "The End" signify the start and end of the sequence. I can see how people might not interpret it this way.
The color of the gems gives you the neighbors for the start and end. They also shine in the same order that you have to bless the colors. Having the start, the end, and the neighbors should be enough information to put together an order. I think a problem is being able to communicate that these gems are neighbors.
The ending made me sob and roll around on the floor like I was on fire and performing the stop-drop-and-roll drill. Beautiful game and has an amazing story.
